Ulladulla Civic Centre

Ulladulla Civic Centre Project

Redeveloping the Ulladulla Civic Centre with sustainability and accessibility in mind

Decades of debate over the Ulladulla Civic Centre ended with Shoalhaven City Council resolving to redevelop this decaying landmark. The Ulladulla Civic Centre refurbishment and extensions is a $5.5m project incorporating a tourist centre and library as well as modifications to the existing auditorium.

In the early 1980’s the original 300 seat auditorium was extended to a 1000 seat function centre above a new senior citizens facility. In 2012, Steven Bayer managed the team that developed a design and prepared construction documents taking into account current stringent requirements for sustainability and accessibility.

A solution was provided which respected the original development. The Joint Regional Planning Panel complimented the Ulladulla Civic Centre design for being flexible and adaptable. Council’s Project Manager, Wayne Brighton, stated that the team “managed and delivered documentation which complied with a very tight timeframe with quality as good as I have ever seen. I remain grateful for their devotion and attention to detail.”
