Alchemy Consulting was engaged to design and document the refurbishment of an existing medical building on the south coast of NSW. An innovative medical practitioner purchased the property as the home for a new business, with a focus on delivering tailored client services in a calm and complementary environment.
From the outset, Director Steven Bayer worked closely with the owner and builder to understand the required services and spaces. There was a strong focus on creating a peaceful atmosphere, while carefully managing the impact of significant redesign and reconstruction within the existing building.
The result is a thoughtful and calming environment that supports both clients and staff. A building that had undergone many ad hoc renovations has been transformed into a cohesive, compliant and welcoming place to visit and work.
A considered palette of materials and colours reinforces the objectives of the practice while maintaining a professional presence. Light timber finishes to joinery and walls in the reception, waiting area and consulting rooms are balanced with calming and corporate tones. Furniture and fittings have been selected to suit both the function and the clients of this modern medical practice.
